Qualifying leaned on two opponent retirements, but the debut needed no help: ten holds in ten service games, no break point faced, 82 percent of first-serve points won. At ATP No. 612, up from 664 in January and six off June's career-high 606, the ranking trails the tennis; the 500-level last-16 starts the correction.
