Rafael Jodar defeated Arthur Fils 7(7)-6(5), 6-3 — Washington Open 2026 R32.
Arthur Fils and Rafael Jodar: Rafael Jodar leads 2–1 across 3 recorded meetings.
The margin lived on second serves. Rafael Jodar won 63 percent of second-serve points to Arthur Fils' 44 and held nine of ten service games in Washington, taking the opener's tiebreak after breaks traded in games 1 and 2, then breaking for 2-1 in game 3 of the second. That's a first win over the No. 8 seed on record, avenging an April semifinal defeat in Barcelona, and it ended on Jodar's second match point, 1 hour, 52 minutes in.
