Valentin Vacherot's Chengdu Open lasted one match. The top seed, ranked ATP No. 19, had a bye into the round of 16 and lost there to Lloyd Harris 6-4, 7-6(5) in 1h 33m. Harris, ranked ATP No. 136, had reached that round by beating Aleksandar Kovacevic in straight sets, and the two had no prior meetings on record. The betting market had made Vacherot a narrow favorite at 53%. Harris held all 11 of his service games without facing a break point. He broke for 2-1 in the opening set and took it 6-4, and neither man lost serve in the second. Vacherot, who held 10 of his 11 service games, saved a match point before Harris took the second set in a tiebreak, 7-6(5). Harris finished with 16 aces to Vacherot's four, 11 of them in that second set, and won 89% of his first-serve points to Vacherot's 79%. Vacherot had not played since his US Open round-of-32 loss to Frances Tiafoe three weeks earlier. Harris began the season at ATP No. 220 and arrived in Chengdu at his 2026 peak of No. 136.
