·250·HardLloyd Harris defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-3, 6-4 — Chengdu Open 2026 R32.
Lloyd Harris and Aleksandar Kovacevic: Lloyd Harris leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Lloyd Harris came through qualifying at the Chengdu Open and beat Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 32, taking 67 minutes to reach the last 16 at the ATP 250. The South African was never broken. He took Kovacevic's serve in game 4 of the opening set for 3-1 and again in game 9 to close it out, and a single break in game 5 of the second set, for 3-2, covered the rest. Harris won 32 of his 35 first-serve points and hit 18 aces to Kovacevic's 11. Kovacevic's only chances arrived in the second set: three break points, none converted. Harris came in at ATP No. 136, his best ranking of the season after starting it at No. 220, and 56 places below Kovacevic. The betting market at bet365 still made him a 66 percent favorite. The two had no prior meetings on record. Kovacevic, 12-14 on hard courts this season, has now lost three in a row on the surface, a run that began with his quarterfinal loss at the Winston-Salem Open in August. He saved one match point before the end.
