Top seed Daniil Medvedev reached the Hangzhou Open final with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Roman Safiullin, conceding one service game across 94 minutes. Safiullin, ranked ATP No. 102 and a winner of three straight matches this week, created four break points in the opening set and converted none. He did break to open the second set, for 1-0, but Medvedev broke back in game 4 for 2-2 and held serve the rest of the way, saving four of the five break points he faced across the match. Medvedev won 81% of his first-serve points, above the 75.6% he has managed on hard courts this season. Safiullin, who beat Yunchaokete Bu in the quarterfinals, won 67% behind his own first serve. The pair had no prior meetings on record. Medvedev, ranked ATP No. 6, had needed three sets against Coleman Wong a day earlier. He now plays for the title.
