Daniil Medvedev vs Coleman Wong — QF — Hangzhou Open

Top seed Daniil Medvedev reached the semifinals of the Hangzhou Open, the ATP 250 in China, getting past Coleman Wong in three sets over 2 hours 17 minutes. Wong, a 22-year-old from Hong Kong ranked ATP No. 108, had beaten Zhizhen Zhang and Adolfo Daniel Vallejo to reach the last eight. Medvedev hit 18 aces and held 14 of his 15 service games. He broke for a 2-0 lead in the opening set, was broken back in game 5, then broke again in game 9 to close it out 6-3. Neither man was broken in the second set, where Wong won every point behind his first serve, and he won it 7-6 in the tiebreak to level the match. Wong had six break points across the match and converted that one. Medvedev took three of his seven, the last in game 8 of the deciding set for 5-3, and he served out the win from there. Hangzhou is Medvedev's first tournament since his fourth-round loss to Frances Tiafoe at the US Open.
