Grabher is 3-5 across eight tour-level matches in 2026, with all three wins coming in opening rounds and every loss arriving by the next hurdle — a pattern that's left her stuck at No. 121. The signature beat is still that three-set Madrid R1 over Paula Badosa, saving a first-set tiebreak before running away with it, though the Roland-Garros follow-up was the other extreme: a 6-0 bagel and mid-match retirement against Amanda Anisimova that raises real questions about her physical state heading into the grass swing.

Julia Grabher is a 30-year-old right-hander from Dornbirn, in Austria's western corner, and she took the long road onto the tour. Sixteen ITF singles titles and an 8-23 record in Fed Cup rubbers for Austria preceded her first top-100 ranking, which arrived in September 2022 — at 26 — off a WTA 125 title in Bari.
The game is clay-first and built on attrition rather than free points. At 1.70 m she aces 1.8 percent of her clay service points and has held only 68.6 percent of her service games on the surface since 2017, so the margin has to come from the exchanges, where she wins 44.1 percent of return points and out-hits nobody, at 0.68 winners per unforced error.
2023 is still the reference season: a first WTA final in Rabat, a career-high WTA No. 54 on June 26, and the best win on her record, over then-No. 28 Shuai Zhang at the Charleston Open. Rome was the fuller argument, past Jil Teichmann in three before a 5-7, 6-4, 6-7(2) loss to Daria Kasatkina. Then a wrist injury cost her six months and left her ranked No. 470 to open 2025; 53 clay-court wins at all levels and the Florianópolis WTA 125 title carried her back inside the top 100.
As of September 2026 she sits WTA No. 112 after a season peak of 78, and the 3-7 tour-level record undersells the year: she beat Paula Badosa 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-0 at the Madrid Open in April and came through in three over Elisabetta Cocciaretto in January for a first Australian Open second round. Still no tour-level title at 30.
Julia Grabher's latest available published WTA singles ranking is No. 99 as of Oct 6, 2026 with 787 WTA Points.
Julia Grabher has a 3–7 win-loss record in 2026 across the Grand Slam, Masters/1000, 500 and 250 events covered by The Drop Shot.
Julia Grabher lost to Sorana Cirstea 3-6 0-6 in the first round at the US Open on Aug 31, 2026. This is the latest result available in the 2026 records.
