Vivian Wolff and Oleksandra Oliynykova: Oleksandra Oliynykova leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Oleksandra Oliynykova opened the Singapore Tennis Open with a straight-sets win over Vivian Wolff, and the second set was far harder work than the first. The Ukrainian, ranked WTA No. 41, broke in the opening game and again in game 3 on the way to a 6-1 first set; Wolff double-faulted three times in it. Wolff, at WTA No. 231, won 69% of her first-serve points in the second set, up from 50% in the first. She broke for 3-2 and led until Oliynykova broke back in game 8 for 4-4, and the set went to a tiebreak. Wolff saved three match points in all before Oliynykova took the breaker 7-1. Oliynykova converted four of seven break points, Wolff one of four. It was Oliynykova's first match since a US Open loss to Alexandra Eala, and she arrived in Singapore at a season-best ranking after starting the year at WTA No. 90.
