Maja Chwalinska reached the Singapore Tennis Open quarterfinals in 53 minutes, beating Oleksandra Oliynykova 6-0, 6-1 in the round of 16 of the WTA 250. The fifth seed broke in games 2, 4 and 6 of the opening set and won all six return games she played. Oliynykova, ranked WTA No. 41, did not hold serve once. She double-faulted three times in the first set and won two of 11 points behind her second serve. Her only game came on a break to open the second set. Chwalinska broke back in game 2, then again in games 4 and 6. The two had no prior meetings on record, and the betting market made Chwalinska a 63 percent favorite. She had won one of her previous five matches before Singapore, a stretch that included a first-round loss at the US Open.
