Two matches into 2026, both at Wimbledon, and Nicolas Mejia sits 1-1 with the split coming in back-to-back rounds on grass. The win over Adolfo Daniel Vallejo was a four-set turnaround after dropping the opener — Mejia closed it out 7-6 in the fourth. The second-round loss to Michael Zheng hinged on the tiebreaks: Mejia took the first 7-6, Zheng grabbed the second 7-6, and the Colombian faded to 6-1, 6-4 across the final two sets. At WTA — ATP No. 165, the grass fortnight is the whole ledger so far.

Mejia turned pro in 2019, a Bogotá native who has spent most of the years since on the Challenger circuit and now trains out of Miami. He is the highest-ranked Colombian man in the sport, a distinction that arrived late for a player who took mixed doubles silver at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires as a junior.
At 1.83m and right-handed off a two-handed backhand, he is not built to serve his way clear of trouble, with a 5.1 percent ace rate and service games held 74 percent of the time, so the profit comes on the other side of the net, where he has won 36.3 percent of return points at tour level. The South American clay upbringing shows in how long he is willing to make a rally.
The résumé is a Challenger résumé. He lost the 2021 Salinas final to Nicolás Jarry, waited until 2025 for a first title, on home clay in Bogotá over Juan Sebastián Gómez, then won that event again in July 2026 past Matías Soto. Grass, improbably, produced the breakthrough: a four-set win over Adolfo Daniel Vallejo at Wimbledon in June 2026, closed with a 7-2 tiebreak, made him the only Colombian to win a men's singles main-draw match there that year. A month later he beat No. 63 Martin Landaluce from a set down at the Canadian Open, his best win by opponent rank, before Lorenzo Musetti needed a first-set tiebreak to stop him.
As of September 2026 he sits at ATP No. 115, a career high first reached on Aug. 25 and 85 places above where he stood a year earlier, with no tour title and a 2-3 record in tour-level matches. The number is the story: he needed qualifying at the season's other three majors.
Nicolas Mejia's latest available published ATP singles ranking is No. 116 as of Oct 1, 2026 with 507 ATP Points.
Nicolas Mejia has a 2–3 win-loss record in 2026 across the Grand Slam, Masters/1000, 500 and 250 events covered by The Drop Shot.
