The arc runs one way: ATP No. 74 in January, No. 107 now, a 3-8 record underneath that has never produced a second win at any event. Each of the three — Dzumhur at Indian Wells, Michelsen from two sets down at Wimbledon, Mannarino at the Canadian Open — was followed by a next-round loss.
That last one was the cleanest of it, 20 winners to nine, though closing took a third match point after two were saved.
A 0.78 winners-to-errors ratio covers the rest, and the slide is a full year deep for the Edinburgh-born 25-year-old: ATP No. 57 last August, a career high of 49 in June 2025.

Most of the top 100 arrives out of juniors. Fearnley arrived out of Texas Christian University, where five years brought back-to-back ITA Indoor National Championships in 2022 and 2023 and the school's first NCAA Division I men's team title in 2024, and where he stayed while his peers were grinding Futures. The Edinburgh product turned pro in 2024, started that year unranked and closed it inside the top 100 after a maiden Challenger title in Nottingham. The Wimbledon wild card that July was the introduction: a first Slam win that survived five squandered match points, then three hours and four sets against Novak Djokovic on Centre Court, the third of them his.
The game is a return game. At 1.83 m the right-hander plays without a free-points serve, as evidenced by a 7.1 percent career ace rate against 36.3 percent of return points won, and a 0.78 winners-to-errors ratio that belongs to a rally player rather than a shotmaker.
The 2025 season stocked the résumé. He beat Tomas Machac, then ATP No. 20, at the Madrid Open in April, then Ugo Humbert at Roland Garros in May to reach a round of 32 matching his Australian Open run that January, with a Queen's Club quarterfinal in June and the career high of ATP No. 49 on June 9. The 13-14 record reads better in the names than in the count.
As of August 2026 the 25-year-old sits at ATP No. 100, 40 places below a year earlier and 3-8 on the season. The two wins with weight: a five-set recovery from two sets down over Alex Michelsen at Wimbledon in June, and Adrian Mannarino at the Canadian Open in August before Jakub Mensik ended that week. The tour-level final is still outstanding.
