Alejandro Davidovich Fokina reached the Shanghai Masters final by beating top seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. Davidovich Fokina, ranked ATP No. 26 and seeded 25th, was the outsider. The betting market had made Zverev, the ATP No. 2, a 74 percent favorite. Zverev hit 18 aces to Davidovich Fokina's five, but Davidovich Fokina got more from his serve overall. He made 82 percent of his first serves, won 85 percent of those points and held in 15 of his 16 service games. Zverev was broken twice in 15 service games and saved two match points. Zverev had led 2-1 in meetings on record. He won at the Madrid Open and won again at the Paris Masters in 2025. Earlier in the week, Davidovich Fokina edged Frances Tiafoe and beat Hubert Hurkacz in deciding-set tiebreaks. He reached the semifinals when Arthur Gea retired trailing 4-1 in their quarterfinal.
