Rebecca Sramkova vs Maja Chwalinska — R32 — Singapore Tennis Open

Maja Chwalinska opened the Singapore Tennis Open with her first win in more than a month, beating wild card Rebecca Sramkova 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32 of the hard-court WTA 250. The No. 5 seed, ranked WTA No. 26, had lost three in a row since a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cristina Bucsa in Cincinnati in mid-August. Chwalinska broke in game 4 of the opening set for 3-1 and stayed in front. Sramkova's only break of the match came in game 9, for 4-5, and she did not win another game in the set. She never reached break point in the second, where Chwalinska broke in game 6 for 4-2 and won 88 percent of her first-serve points. Chwalinska converted three of five break points, Sramkova one of five. Ranked WTA No. 146, Sramkova was playing her first match since early August.
