Lorenzo Sonego and Frances Tiafoe: Lorenzo Sonego leads 3–1 across 4 recorded meetings.
A round-of-32 place at the Cincinnati Open cost the 17th seed nothing on serve, as Tiafoe held all 10 of his service games, saved the only two break points he faced and took two of his three chances on return. Sonego had the bigger serve on paper with 7 aces to 4 and 74% of first-serve points won, yet he was broken in game 8 for 5-3 and again in game 9 for 6-3. Seventy-six minutes of work, and Tiafoe is 16-9 on hard courts this season.
