·Masters·HardKamilla Rakhimova defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 — China Open 2026 R64.
Kamilla Rakhimova and Leylah Fernandez are level at 1–1 across 2 recorded meetings.
Uzbekistan's Kamilla Rakhimova, ranked 76th, upset 23rd seed Leylah Fernandez in three sets to reach the third round of the China Open in Beijing. The loss ended a five-match winning streak that had carried Fernandez to the Singapore Tennis Open title six days earlier. Fernandez had a first-round bye, so this was her first match of the tournament, and the betting market had made her a 71 percent favorite. Rakhimova had opened with a straight-sets win over Marina Bassols Ribera. Rakhimova broke twice in the opening set without facing a break point. Fernandez took the second set 6-4 to level the match, but Rakhimova won the decider 6-3. Fernandez saved one match point before Rakhimova closed out the win after 2 hours, 31 minutes. The widest statistical gap was on second serve. Fernandez landed 78 percent of her first serves, but she won only 37 percent of the points that went to a second serve. Rakhimova won 63 percent of the points behind her own second serve. The win also reversed the result of their only previous meeting on record. Fernandez won that match in a final-set tiebreak at the 2024 Wuhan Open.
