Iva Jovic reached the China Open round of 16 by beating Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets. She saved 11 of the 13 break points she faced. The 18-year-old American, seeded 10th, has now won six straight matches, a run that includes last month's title in Guadalajara. Rakhimova, the WTA No. 76 from Uzbekistan, had beaten Leylah Fernandez in the previous round. She created eight break points in the opening set and converted none, while Jovic broke in the second and fourth games for a 4-0 lead. In the second set, the players traded breaks in games 4 and 5 before Rakhimova broke in game 6 for a 4-2 lead. Jovic broke back in game 9 to pull within 4-5, broke again in game 11 for 6-5 and served out the match.
