Sign upNadia Podoroska defeated Paula Badosa 6-3, 6-4 — SP Open 2026 Semifinal.
Nadia Podoroska and Paula Badosa: Nadia Podoroska leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Nadia Podoroska beat second seed Paula Badosa 6-3, 6-4 in the SP Open semifinals in São Paulo, and the Argentine, ranked WTA No. 317, will play for the WTA 250 title. The betting market had made Badosa a 79 percent favorite. Serve carried little authority in either direction. Nine of the 19 games went against the server, and the two combined for 17 double faults, nine of them from Podoroska. She converted six of her 11 break points and won 60 percent of her return games; Badosa won 33 percent of hers. The second set ran on exactly those terms. Podoroska broke in game 2, Badosa answered in game 5, Podoroska broke again in game 6 and Badosa in game 7. Podoroska's break in game 10 was the only one of the five that went unanswered. It was a fourth straight win for the 29-year-old, who needed three sets to get past Suzan Lamens in the quarterfinals. The two had no prior meetings on record, and Badosa had dropped only one set on her way to the semifinals. Podoroska started the season ranked WTA No. 918. Her WTA No. 317 at match time is her high point of the 2026 season.
