Karolina Pliskova defeated Caty McNally 6-4, 7(7)-6(3) — Nottingham Open 2026 R16.
Karolina Pliskova and Caty McNally: Karolina Pliskova leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Pliskova, 47 spots below McNally at #106, flipped the seeding by owning the second-serve exchanges: she won 57% of those points to McNally's 30%, a 27-point chasm that the surface stats can't paper over. The break trading was relentless — six combined in the first set alone — but Pliskova landed the last one in game 10 to take it 6-4, then closed the second-set tiebreak 7-3 after McNally broke for 6-5. McNally arrived having dropped a single game to Ruzic; her 9-of-30 on second serve here is what ended that run.
