Karolina Pliskova vs Talia Gibson — QF — Nottingham Open

Pliskova, ranked #106 to Gibson's #63, flipped the favorite by converting all three break points she earned — including back-to-back breaks in games 11 and 12 of the opening set to take it 7-5. Gibson's eight double faults handed back the return pressure she couldn't generate herself: she won just 10% of her return games to Pliskova's 27%. The Australian's serve carried her this far at the Nottingham Open — she'd ousted Zheng in the round of 16 — but she never broke once across the 91 minutes.
