Peyton Stearns defeated Diane Parry 6-2, 7-5 — Guadalajara Open 2026 R16.

Diane Parry and Peyton Stearns: Peyton Stearns leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.

Peyton Stearns beat fourth-seeded Diane Parry 6-2, 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals of the Guadalajara Open, the WTA 500 hard-court event in Mexico. Ranked WTA No. 55, Stearns needed 1 hour 38 minutes against an opponent who, at WTA No. 31, had a bye into the round of 16 and was playing her first match of the week. Parry broke first, in game 3 of the opening set, and lost her serve straight back in game 4. Stearns broke again in game 6 and closed the set out 6-2. The second set was less orderly. Parry broke in games 1 and 3 for a 3-0 lead, then lost serve in game 6 and again in game 8 to be pegged back to 4-4. She saved two match points before Stearns broke a third time, in game 12, to finish it. They combined for 17 double faults, 10 of them from Parry, who held four of her nine service games. Stearns won 56 percent of her return games to Parry's 30. Parry came to Guadalajara less than three weeks after winning the Monterrey Open, where she beat Elise Mertens in the final. Stearns arrived having lost four of her previous five matches, then opened the week with a straight-sets win over Emiliana Arango. The betting market narrowly favored her anyway, at 53 percent, in a matchup with no prior meetings on record.
