Vit Kopriva vs Jia Hu — R32 — Chengdu Open

Vit Kopriva opened the Chengdu Open with a 6-4, 7-5 win over wild card Jia Hu in the Round of 32, an hour and 37 minutes of work against a player ranked ATP No. 2082. For Kopriva, ATP No. 65, it was a first hard-court win since the Canadian Open in early August, after losses there and in Cincinnati and at the US Open. Hu broke in the opening game, but Kopriva answered in game four for 2-2 and broke again in game eight for 5-3 to take the set. Six of Hu's seven aces came in the second set, and he won 75 percent of his first-serve points there, up from 61 percent in the first. Kopriva broke for 4-2 in game six and won the set 7-5. Kopriva held 10 of his 11 service games and won 62 percent of the points behind his second serve, against 46 percent for Hu.
