Katarzyna Kawa defeated Simona Waltert 6-1, 6-4 — Iași Open 2026 R32.
Katarzyna Kawa and Simona Waltert: Katarzyna Kawa leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Priced at 67% by the betting market — though The Drop Shot's model called it a coin flip — Simona Waltert held serve exactly once in seven service games at the Iași Open. Katarzyna Kawa, the WTA No. 119, broke three times in the opener — games 4, 6 and 7 — then outlasted a messier second set in which Waltert carved out eight break points but converted only three; Kawa went a perfect 3-for-3, including the break in game 9. The full-match ledger was blunt: 6 of 8 break chances converted against 4 of 9, a return-game margin the 29-spot ranking gap never suggested.
