Panna Udvardy defeated Katarzyna Kawa 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 — Iași Open 2026 R16.
Panna Udvardy and Katarzyna Kawa: Panna Udvardy leads 2–0 across 2 recorded meetings.
The first-serve swing decided it. In the opener, Panna Udvardy won just 33 percent of first-serve points while Katarzyna Kawa went four-for-four on break chances. The second set flipped that number to 80 percent. Udvardy broke in game 12 to close it 7-5, then opened the third with breaks in games 1 and 3 for 3-0. Kawa's conversion rate never dipped — she finished 7 of 10 on break points to Udvardy's 7 of 14 — but the No. 5 seed kept manufacturing chances and edged the total-points count 77-75. One hour and 49 minutes after it began, Udvardy moves into the Iași Open quarterfinals — a second straight three-setter, following her opening win over Romero Gormaz.
