Taylor Fritz and Nishesh Basavareddy: Nishesh Basavareddy leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Ranked No. 156, Nishesh Basavareddy took out the No. 8 seed in four sets by converting half his break chances — 3 of 6, against just 1 of 4 for Taylor Fritz. Fritz hit 21 aces to Basavareddy's four and piled up 71 winners, but the second serve sank him: he won 49% of those points to the American teenager's 64%.
