·250·HardDenis Shapovalov defeated Adrian Mannarino 6(6)-7(8), 6-3, 6-2 — Chengdu Open 2026 Quarterfinal.
Adrian Mannarino and Denis Shapovalov: Denis Shapovalov leads 3–0 across 3 recorded meetings.
Denis Shapovalov lost the opening set and still reached the semifinals at the Chengdu Open, beating Adrian Mannarino in three sets over 2 hours and 31 minutes. The seventh seed had not dropped a set in the event before this quarterfinal, and the opener offered neither man an opening: it went without a break of serve, with both winning close to 90 percent of their first-serve points. Mannarino took the tiebreak 8-6. Shapovalov broke in the first game of the second set and again in game 9 to take it 6-3. A break in game 6 of the third put him ahead 4-2, and he closed out the set 6-2. He was not broken all match, holding all 14 of his service games and saving the four break points Mannarino earned — three in the second set, one in the third. Mannarino, ranked ATP No. 78 and into the last eight without dropping a set of his own, won none of his 14 return games. The totals stayed close regardless: 99 points to 94, and 14 aces for Shapovalov against nine double faults. Shapovalov had won both prior meetings on record, the most recent a straight-sets win at the Cincinnati Open in August.
