Jaime Faria and Terence Atmane: Jaime Faria leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Jaime Faria needed two hours and 22 minutes, and two saved match points, to survive his opening match at the Hangzhou Open. The seventh seed came through in three sets against Terence Atmane, a player the betting market had made the slight favorite at 55 percent despite his lower ranking at ATP No. 87. Atmane took the opening set 6-3, breaking in game 2 and again in game 9. The second set produced no breaks at all — Atmane never earned a break point in it — and went to a tiebreak in which he held two match points. Faria saved both and closed out the set 7-6(9). The deciding set opened with breaks in each of the first two games, Faria in game 1 and Atmane straight back in game 2. From there it stayed on serve until Faria broke again in game 9 for 5-4 and served out the match. Little separated them across 182 points: Faria won 92. Atmane was the more efficient with chances, converting two of his four break points to Faria's two of seven, but Faria's second serve gave him the better platform, winning 68 percent of those points to Atmane's 55. The pair had no prior meetings on record. For Faria, ranked ATP No. 70, it was a first match since his US Open loss to Carlos Alcaraz three weeks earlier.
