Martin Damm vs Fabian Marozsan — R16 — Winston-Salem Open

The third set turned on one return game — game 7, the break for 4-3 — and Marozsan built it off the second ball, winning 16 of 24 second-serve points on the afternoon while Damm managed 13 of 26. Then the serve that built the opening set stopped paying: no double faults in it, five after, three of those in the second, and Damm's first-serve points won slid from 86 percent to 65 by the third. That was room enough for the flat, early-struck drives to take the rallies back. Damm out-aced the 15th seed 11 to 5 and lost the points count 76-74 anyway. Ninety-seven minutes, and Marozsan is into a Winston-Salem quarterfinal, a second straight win after losing his Cincinnati opener.
