Ignacio Buse defeated Juan Manuel Cerundolo 7(7)-6(4), 4-6, 6-2 — Winston-Salem Open 2026 Quarterfinal.
Juan Manuel Cerundolo and Ignacio Buse: Ignacio Buse leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Serving for the opening set, Juan Manuel Cerundolo was broken in game 10 for 5-5, and the tiebreak went with it. That one game separated two men who traded breaks all afternoon — 11 of them, six from Ignacio Buse's 14 chances — and the Peruvian's only clean stretch arrived in the decider, breaks in game 3 for 2-1 and game 5 for 4-1 against an eighth seed who did not earn a single break point in the set. Two hours and 41 minutes, and Buse, whose lone title came on Hamburg clay in May, has a semifinal on a surface his season had not yet given him.
