Thiago Agustin Tirante defeated Jakub Mensik 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the R16 of the Cincinnati Open 2026.
Backed at 66 percent by the betting market, the 14th seed became the second top-20 name to leave Cincinnati at the hands of the same 65th-ranked opponent, four days after Djokovic went. Mensik lost this one off his own racquet, with 47 unforced errors to 30, six double faults (five of them in the third set) and 44 percent of second-serve points won against 54 the other way. Tirante broke in game 1 for 1-0 and again in game 3 for 3-0, gave one back in game 6 for 2-4, then needed a second match point after the Czech saved the first. Two hours and 14 minutes, a fourth straight win, and a first trip beyond the round of 16 at a Masters for a player still without a tour-level title.
Thiago Agustin Tirante: 8 aces, 18 winners, 53% first serves, 2 double faults, 3/7 break points. Jakub Mensik: 9 aces, 22 winners, 59% first serves, 6 double faults, 2/4 break points.
