Anna Blinkova needed 65 minutes to get past Carol Young Suh Lee, 6-1, 6-3, in the round of 32 at the SP Open, the fourth seed's first match of the week in São Paulo. It was also her first win since Cincinnati in mid-August, the US Open having ended for her in the first round against Anna Kalinskaya. Blinkova broke Lee's opening service game, broke again in game 3 for 3-0 and converted five of seven break points across the match. Lee, a 24-year-old American ranked WTA No. 143 who started the season at WTA No. 208, won 46 percent of points behind her first serve and held three times. Her one break, in game 5 of the second set for 2-3, was answered immediately: Blinkova broke back in game 6 for 4-2. Blinkova moves into the round of 16.
