Anna Blinkova is into the semifinals at the SP Open, the No. 4 seed getting past No. 8 seed Alina Charaeva 6-4, 7-5 in 1 hour 50 minutes on the São Paulo hard courts. Holding serve was the difficult part for both. The two were broken 10 times in 22 games, with Blinkova converting six of her 10 break points to Charaeva's four of 12. Blinkova broke in game 4 of the opening set for 3-1 and in game 2 of the second for 2-0, and Charaeva broke straight back on each occasion. Charaeva, ranked WTA No. 133 and a straight-sets winner over Elina Avanesyan in the previous round, moved ahead with a break in game 7 for 4-3. Blinkova broke in game 10 for 5-5 and claimed the last two games. Charaeva finished with 10 double faults, seven of them in the second set; Blinkova hit none. Blinkova has yet to drop a set in three matches this week.
