Magdalena Frech is back in the Guadalajara Open quarterfinals, and the No. 7 seed got there on return, handling Caroline Dolehide 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16. Seven of the 19 games went against serve, five of them to Frech, who won half of her 10 return games to Dolehide's two of nine. They traded breaks in the first set's opening games, and Frech was 3-0 up in the second before Dolehide broke back in game 4. Dolehide saved a match point before Frech broke in game 9 to close it out. The match paired two of the event's recent finalists. Dolehide lost the 2023 final here to Maria Sakkari; Frech won the title in 2024. Dolehide arrived at WTA No. 246, down from No. 109 to start the season, and had lost her five previous matches on record before beating Renata Zarazua in her opener. She held only half her service games and served seven double faults. Frech has yet to drop a set this week.
