Nadia Podoroska vs Suzan Lamens — QF — SP Open

Nadia Podoroska is into the SP Open semifinals after a 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3 quarterfinal win over Suzan Lamens that lasted 2 hours 37 minutes on the São Paulo hard courts. Podoroska, an Argentine ranked WTA No. 317, started the season at WTA No. 918 and has not stood higher than this in 2026. Lamens arrived at WTA No. 182, and the betting market still made Podoroska a narrow favorite at 55 percent. Serve held little authority. Ten of the 30 games went against the server, five breaks each. Podoroska broke in game 10 of the opening set to level it at 5-5, then took the tiebreak 7-5. Lamens replied by breaking in the eighth and ninth games of the second for 6-3, and broke again to open the third. Podoroska recovered that deficit with a break in game 6 for 3-3, added another in game 8 for 5-3 and served out the match. She won 47 percent of her second-serve points to Lamens' 33, and Lamens finished with 16 double faults, nine of them in the first set. Lamens, who began the season at WTA No. 97, had dropped only one set on her way to the quarterfinals. Podoroska needed none against Lucrezia Stefanini or Eva Lys earlier in the week, and is now one win from the final.
