Alexander Zverev vs Terence Atmane — R32 — Cincinnati Open

Two games into the afternoon the No. 1 seed was already down a break, Atmane having taken game 2 for 2-0, and everything after that became a holding contest neither man could crack. The one swing back came in game 5 for 2-3, and from there Zverev leaned on a first serve worth 44 of 52 points won, 85 percent, to take both breakers from the 46th-ranked opponent who won 71 percent behind his own second serve to Zverev's 60 and still lost the points count 79-73. Neither man was broken again. Atmane saved a match point in the closing tiebreak before it went; two hours and eight minutes and one break of serve apiece later, the top seed is into the last 16 at the Cincinnati Open.
