Xiyu Wang vs Sara Bejlek — R128 — Canadian Open

Volume outlasted efficiency. Xiyu Wang cashed 4 of her 7 break points while Sara Bejlek converted just 5 of 18, but the chances never stopped coming, and once Wang's 13 break-point saves ran out, the points ledger read 109-103 for the WTA No. 38. For two sets the trade held. It cracked late: Wang broke in game 4 of the third for 3-1, but Bejlek broke straight back in game 5 and again in game 11 for 6-5, Wang's serve buckling with three of her four double faults landing in the decider. Three hours in, Bejlek held to close it at the Canadian Open — her first match win since late June, ending a run of four losses in five.
