Adam Walton vs Ignacio Buse — R32 — Winston-Salem Open

Broken in game 10 for 5-5 in the second, Buse had watched the man who beat him in Cincinnati nine days earlier take three of four break chances and drag the afternoon toward a repeat. The third set ran the other way, as evidenced by 91 percent of first-serve points won and the one break he needed in game 7 for 4-3, though Walton saved two match points before it ended at 1h 52m. The No. 3 seed came in 0-3 on hard courts this season and moves into the last 16 with that column finally open.
