Linda Noskova defeated Katie Volynets 7-5, 6-1 — US Open 2026 R128.
Katie Volynets and Linda Noskova: Linda Noskova leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Nine double faults, every one of them in the opening set, is not the usual profile of a seed taking care of business. Noskova got away with it because the return never relented, winning six of her nine return games and breaking back in game 8 for 3-5 and again in game 10 for 5-5 to wipe out the deficit. Volynets landed every first serve she struck and still took only 44 percent of the points; the sixth seed is into the US Open second round in 91 minutes.
