Naomi Osaka vs Katerina Siniakova — Round of 64 — US Open. Osaka won 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

Twenty unforced errors and a lead surrendered from 5-3 in the second set had Osaka a set from the exit, the 13th seed broken in game 9 for 4-5, again in game 11 for 6-5 and once more in game 12. The third set ran the other way entirely: a break in game 2 for 2-0, another in game 6 for 5-1, and 86 percent of first-serve points won against 43 for Siniakova, who managed four winners to Osaka's 11. Two hours and two minutes after a first round that needed two tiebreaks, Osaka is into the third round at the US Open.
