Brandon Nakashima vs Alex Michelsen — Round of 64 — US Open. Michelsen won 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Seeded 16th and a 65 percent favorite with the betting market, Nakashima is out of the US Open in the second round, a Cincinnati semifinalist last month with Medvedev and Fritz among the wins there. He was broken four times from seven chances and held 10 of 14 service games. Michelsen, flat and front-footed off both wings on the surface his game travels best on, held 13 of 14 and won 41 of 48 first-serve points, breaking in game 7 of the third for 5-2. Nakashima saved two match points before the 1:54 finish, and the Laguna Hills product goes into the third round having not dropped a set this week.
