Janice Tjen and Yulia Putintseva: Yulia Putintseva leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
The No. 75-ranked Putintseva took down No. 40 Tjen by winning the second-serve exchanges that Tjen couldn't survive — 62% of her own second-serve points to Tjen's 36%, a 26-point gap that decided the match. Tjen's 12 aces came tethered to nine double faults, and after dropping the opener she handed Putintseva breaks in games 4 and 6 to lose the second set. Putintseva broke twice more in the decider, in games 3 and 5. She books a meeting with Elena Rybakina next.
