Seventh seed Kaitlin Quevedo beat lucky loser Anastasia Tikhonova 6-0 6-2 in the round of 32 at the SP Open in São Paulo, her first win since July. Quevedo, WTA No. 105, had lost three straight coming in, most recently a first-round exit at the US Open. Here she held all seven of her service games and converted five of six break points. Tikhonova, ranked WTA No. 245, did not hold serve in the opening set, broken in games 2, 4 and 6, while Quevedo won 90 percent of her first-serve points in that set. Tikhonova landed 36 percent of her first serves for the match and saved one of six break points. Both of her holds came in the second set; she had two games on the board before Quevedo broke for 4-2 and again for 6-2.
