Third seed Lanlana Tararudee came through in 2 hours 17 minutes against Moyuka Uchijima in the Korea Open round of 32, recovering from a lost second-set tiebreak to take the decider 6-2. Nine games went against serve on the Seoul hard courts. Tararudee broke for 3-1 in the opening set, gave one back in game 7 and still took it 6-4. The second was messier: 10 double faults between the two players and four breaks, the last of them Tararudee's as Uchijima served for the set at 6-5. Uchijima won the tiebreak that followed to level the match. The decider belonged to Tararudee's return. She broke in the opening game, broke again in game 7 for 5-2, and finished the match having won 40 percent of her return games to Uchijima's 21. Uchijima, ranked WTA No. 104, double-faulted 11 times in all and saved one match point before the end.
