Dhakshineswar Suresh vs Marcos Giron — R64 — Winston-Salem Open

A fourth straight loss for the 83rd-ranked Giron, and this one came from a lucky loser ranked 400th with no prior meetings between them on record. The favorite got four looks at a break and converted none, and was broken twice himself, while Suresh saved all four break points he faced and held every service game. Two breaks built the opener, in game 2 for 2-0 and game 9 for 6-3, and the only one the 26-year-old from Madurai needed after that landed in game 11 for 6-5. Sixteen aces and 35 of 39 first-serve points won, all inside 66 minutes, and a player who started the season ranked 472nd is into the round of 32 at the Winston-Salem Open — where Giron was supposed to be.
