Fajing Sun and Roman Safiullin: Roman Safiullin leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Roman Safiullin took an hour to beat qualifier Fajing Sun 6-2, 6-0 in the Hangzhou Open round of 32, his first win since he reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in July. Sun, the Beijing-born ATP No. 314, saved five of the 12 break points he faced. Safiullin broke in games 4 and 8 of the opening set, then took Sun's serve in games 2, 4 and 6 of the second for 2-0, 4-0 and 6-0. He lost one point behind his first serve all match, 23 of 24, and Sun saved two match points before the finish. Since then Safiullin had lost three straight — to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, Hugo Grenier at Winston-Salem and Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open first round. He began the season at ATP No. 170 and stood at No. 102 for this match.
