Then the second serve turned. Rinderknech won 33 of his 48 second-serve points against 47% for Shimabukuro, whose nine double faults to three fed the 26th seed cheap points, and the breaks clustered in games 5, 7 and 8 of the second set. The third nearly got away — a break for 5-4 in game 9, an immediate one back in game 10 — before the tiebreak went his way.
