Zachary Svajda defeated Alexei Popyrin 3-6, 6-3, 7(7)-6(3), 7-5 — French Open 2026 R128.
Alexei Popyrin and Zachary Svajda: Zachary Svajda leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
World No. 85 Zachary Svajda erased the 24-spot gap to No. 61 Alexei Popyrin by keeping the error count clean — 22 unforced to Popyrin's 35 — and the favourite never recovered after dropping the opener 6-3. Svajda's 17 aces edged Popyrin's 14, but the difference was margin: he took the third-set tiebreak 7-3 and broke late for 7-5 in the fourth. A first career meeting, first on clay, and the lower-ranked man came through the cleaner side of a 53-to-48 winner count.
