Marta Kostyuk defeated Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-4 — Madrid Open 2026 R32.
Jessica Pegula and Marta Kostyuk: Jessica Pegula leads 4–2 across 6 recorded meetings.
Marta Kostyuk, ranked #23, took apart the world #5 behind the second serve that decided everything. Jessica Pegula won just 4 of 15 second-serve points (27%) while Kostyuk banked 52% of hers, and that 25-point gap translated straight to the scoreboard — 12 of 17 games to the Ukrainian. Pegula had owned this rivalry 4-1, but their first clay meeting flipped it: she managed only 5 aces' worth of resistance against Kostyuk's, won 41% of total points, and was off the court in 72 minutes.
