Luciano Darderi defeated Tommy Paul 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 — Italian Open 2026 R32.
Tommy Paul and Luciano Darderi are level at 1–1 across 2 recorded meetings.
Luciano Darderi lost the opening set and then made the back two look routine, riding his second delivery the rest of the way: 68% of second-serve points won to Tommy Paul's 56%, and zero double faults across all three sets. Paul's error count is where the match drained away — 47 unforced to Darderi's 28 — and his return game stalled after set one, converting just 2 of 4 break points while Darderi took 4 of 9. A first career meeting, first on clay, and Darderi banks it in 142 minutes at the Italian Open.
