Oleksandra Oliynykova vs Leyre Romero Gormaz — R16 — Hamburg Open

Break-point efficiency sided with the loser; the points ledger did not. Leyre Romero Gormaz cashed 7 of 11 break chances to Oleksandra Oliynykova's 7 of 19, yet the top seed won 65 percent of her second-serve return points and took the total points count 114 to 109. The decider sorted it, Oliynykova converting 3 of 7 break points while winning 57 percent of first-serve points to Romero Gormaz's 44. Sealed on a second match point, the win is her second straight three-setter — 7-5 in the third past Nastasja Schunk in the opener — and sends her into the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open quarterfinals.
