Emma Navarro and Sofia Kenin: Emma Navarro leads 1–0 across 1 recorded meeting.
Cashing break points, not creating them, drew the line. Emma Navarro converted 5 of 9 while Sofia Kenin took 2 of 12, going 0-for-5 in a bagel opener she kept closer than it read. Kenin broke for a 4-1 second-set lead, but Navarro, 16 aces to 2 on the day, had pulled level at 5-5 when the wild card retired at 40-30, sending the No. 8 seed into the Washington Open round of 16.
